Taylor joined Compass Light in the summer of 2014 with the opportunity to follow his passion for science, conservation, and film. Originally from the west coast, Taylor studied at Whitman College where he majored in Geology and twin minored in Environmental Studies and Film Studies. Following undergrad, Taylor spent a few years working as a exploration geologist where he continued to travel around the world. He recently finished his Master’s in the Science and Natural History Filmmaking program at Montana State University, where he successfully defended a thesis on the cultural studies of beer! He has produced media for various NGOs and NSF projects, in addition to working on the show America the Wild for Nat Geo Wild TV. Taylor tends to favor a quirky and humorous approach in his films, but he’s certainly serious about making information accessible and enjoyable to all. Unable to sit still, Taylor enjoys hiking, ultimate frisbee, and playing any musical instrument he can get his hands on.
